Dogs Trust Scotland: 11 dogs looking for their forever homes in Scotland - including in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee
Across Scotland, many dogs who are cared for by the Dogs Trust are looking to find their permanent homes in 2023.
The Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns saw the demand for dogs rise but the cost of living crisis has seen many owners hand their pets over, unable to afford to keep them. There are a range of dogs across Scotland hoping to find a family who will care for them - including a pair of chihuahuas and a fun-loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Here are 11 dogs in and around Scotland who are looking to find their forever homes this year.

5. Leo
Leo is a friendly, goofy boy who is friendly to everyone he meets. The five-year-old likes to play and can often be found zooming around the garden chasing after his ball. He loves food and will happily exchange tricks for treats. After spending the day playing, Leo's favourite thing to do is cuddle up in bed and sleep. Despite making friends with some calm dogs at Dogs Trust, Leo is looking for a home in which he is the only pet. He can live with children who are 16 or over and is looking for owners who are around the house most of the day as he can get anxious if left alone for too long. He also wants owners who will take him for walks and play with him in a garden of his own. He loves adventures and can take short journeys in the car. Photo: Dogs Trust

6. Noah
Three-year-old Noah is a friendly boy who adores making human friends. He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up next to people on the sofa and keep them warm. He loves food and will never say no to a biscuit or two. As a young Lurcher, Noah is full of energy and would love to have a large garden where he can play with his toys and run freely. He is always excited to go for walks but prefers to explore quieter areas where he won't meet other dogs. He also loves adventures and is great at travelling in the car. He is looking for an adult-only home where he is the only pet and anyone interested in taking Noah home should be willing to meet him a few times to help him get comfortable. Photo: Dogs Trust

7. Mia
This Akita cross is a beautiful girl with a very loving nature. Mia is currently staying in a foster home and her carers describe her as a 'joy' to have in the house. She loves being pampered and spoiled with belly rubs. The seven-year-old is house trained and is happy to be left alone for a few hours. She can usually be found snuggled up in a cosy spot in the house but also loves to have a walk on the lead in a quiet area away from other dogs. Mia is looking for a home where she is the only pet but can live with children aged 12 or over. She would love a home with a secure garden where she can play with her toys and lounge in the sun. Although she can appear aloof when first meeting new people, she makes friends easily - particularly if there are treats involved. Photo: Dogs Trust

8. Ziggy
This crossbreed is 11 years old and came into the Dogs Trust's care as a stray. As a result, his experience of a home life may be limited. Ziggy is friendly and comical and is sure to bring lots of laughter and love into his new home. Ziggy has missed out on many home comforts in his life so his current carers are keen for him to enjoy all the great things that family life has to offer. He loves food and may need a watchful eye on him when he is around the treats in his home. The lovable pup is looking for experienced owners who have had dogs before. He is independent and so takes his time to build relationships but once he is comfortable, he is a loyal companion. Although Ziggy loves to play with doggy friends at the park, he prefers to have his own space and is looking to be the only pet in his new home. He would love to have a secure garden and could live with children aged 16 or over. Photo: Dogs Trust
