Across Scotland, many dogs who are cared for by the Dogs Trust are looking to find their permanent homes in 2023.
The Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns saw the demand for dogs rise but the cost of living crisis has seen many owners hand their pets over, unable to afford to keep them. There are a range of dogs across Scotland hoping to find a family who will care for them - including a pair of chihuahuas and a fun-loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Here are 11 dogs in and around Scotland who are looking to find their forever homes this year.

9. Tigger
As his name suggests, this four-year-old Lurcher is friendly, fun and very energetic. He was found as a stray when he was just nine months old and it became clear to Dogs Trust carers that he hadn't received any early training or socialisation. He has since spent lots of time with the training and behaviour team and has come on leaps and bounds as he is eager to learn. He is a one-of-a-kind pooch who will bring lots of love and joy to his forever home. Tigger is looking to be the only pet in a home with people who have owned a dog before and who have the time and patience to help him adjust to a new life. He is able to live in a home with children aged 16 or over and the ability to be left alone in the house would be built up gradually. Tigger requires an active, loving family who will join him on walks and play with him in the garden. Photo: Dogs Trust

10. Kai
Kai is currently staying at a foster home with carers who love having the affectionate five-year-old around. He loves being a part of the family and is great fun to be around. He loves a long lie in the morning and enjoys learning new tricks. He can be uncomfortable around other dogs and prefers to be walked in quieter areas. He requires to be walked on a lead and wear a muzzle, which he is happy to do. The lovable Lurcher would love a garden where he can bathe in the sun and stretch his legs. He loves food, is house trained and enjoys playing with his squeaky toys. He also travels well in the car and can live in a home with children of school age. Photo: Dogs Trust

11. Eddie
Three-year-old Eddie is a very affectionate and fun boy who loves to be close to the people he loves. He enjoys home comforts, especially snoozing on the sofa, and loves to be the centre of attention. He requires active owners who can take him on lots of long walks in quiet areas away from other dogs and who have experience of owning a similar energetic breed. He would like to be the only pet in the home and can live with children aged 16 or over. He is looking for a garden where he can play and a forever home where he can get plenty of love and cuddles.
