Edinburgh’s 99 Hanover Street to receive new identity

Popular Edinburgh bar, 99 Hanover Street, will be receiving a makeover, its owners have revealed.

After four years operating 99 Hanover Street, Juan José Castillo Castro and partner Vanessa Alfano said it was time for a change of identity for the business.

The “Superico” branding, which loosely translates to “super-tasty” will also extend to 99’s sister restaurant, 83 Hanover Street, with both sites adopting the new interior design.

Owner Juan said: “We spent a long time brainstorming a name for what we anticipate will be a group of venues, and I just kept coming back to this favourite expression of mine from childhood.

“I used super to enhance anything I really liked. It captures the vibe of what we’re aiming for. It’s upbeat, positive and fun.”

Juan and Vanessa have been working with Edinburgh-based designer Kurt Green of Human Resources to develop the identity to be installed across both sites.

Interior designer Jaco Justice, of Ja!Coco! Design Studio in Edinburgh, is currently adding the finishing touches to a complete refurbishment of 99’s interiors.

Jaco designed the interiors for 83 Hanover Street’s launch in 2018. Superico Bar & Lounge will announce opening plans and details of their offering later this week.
