Midlothian restaurant ‘honoured’ to be finalists at Britain’s ‘Curry Oscars’

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner at London’s Battersea Evolution Centre

A Midlothian restaurant has taken a big step towards retaining its Scottish curry house crown by being shortlisted in the 2022 British Curry Awards.

Radhuni, an Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant in Loanhead, won the title in 2020 – and next week they hope to repeat the trick.

The awards are given on a regional basis.

Radhuni has been shortlisted in the 2022 British Curry Awards.

Organisers said the invitation to shortlisted restaurants “is bestowed only on those among the best in Britain.”

They added that finalists had been selected “after a rigorous and months long process of judging which are awards considered an institution by the entire industry.”

The awards, known as Britain’s “Curry Oscars,’ will be presented at a gala dinner at London’s Battersea Evolution Centre on Monday (November 28).

The event will be attended by more than 1,000 restaurateurs, critics, media, politicians and celebrities.

In September, Radhuni was voted Restaurant of the Year in the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Earlier this year, the family owned and run business became one of only three Indian restaurants in Scotland to receive an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

For the first time, the British Curry Awards will include a Diners’ Choice category with finalists’ customers invited to vote online on the night.
