5. Finnegan's Wake
Where: 9b Victoria St, Edinburgh EH1 2HE. Named after the James Joyce novel, Finnegan's Wake is famed for its live music and a "party atmosphere" is assured every night. 6. Dropkick Murphys
Where: 7 Merchant St, Edinburgh EH1 2QD. Open until 3am every night, Dropkick Murphys is the place to go if you want to dance until the wee small hours. There's regular live music and it's also a great venue for watching sport on the big screens. Dropkicks are celebrating St Patrick's Day eve, on March 16, with live music from 9pm until 3am and a balloon drop at midnight.
