If you’re keen to make the most of this pretty season, there are plenty of scenic walking spots around Edinburgh to explore. So pull on your walking boots, wrap up warm and hit the trails of these nine locations which are all within easy reach of the capital.
1. Holyrood Park
This 640 acre Royal Park sits adjacent to Holyrood Palace and is a popular haunt for walking and picnics. Walkers can tackle the steep climb up Arthur’s Seat - an extinct volcano which sits 251 metres above sea level and offers spectacular views over the city.
2. Braid Hills
A short circular walk will take you around the Brad Hills, one of the seven hills on which Edinburgh is traditionally said to be built, and promises superb views along the way, including of Arthur's Seat.
3. Water of Leith
The Water of Leith Walkway stretches for almost 13 miles through the heart of Edinburgh and takes in numerous areas of interest, including the Royal Botanical Garden, Saughton Winter Gardens and Dean Village.
4. Inverleith Park
This beautiful park extends across 54 acres and boasts lush meadows, flowers, sports fields, a boating pond, and a playground for youngsters, offering something for all the family.
