The East Neuk of Fife really does have it all – beautiful beaches, some of the world’s best golf courses, Michelin-starred restaurants, stunning countryside, ruined castles and picturesque pubs.
In this year of the Scottish staycation many of us have scrapped foreign jaunts to holiday at home, and this corner of Fife is proving more popular than ever.
So, if you are heading there for a month or a day, here are some of the highlights you really shouldn't miss out on.

. Brave the chain walk
The Elie Chain Walk is not for the faint-hearted - follow a series of chains bolted to the rocks between Earlsferry Beach and Shell Bay for a coastal scramble to remember. Make sure you only attempt it while the tide is going out, or risk being one of the many people who need to be rescued by the coastguard each year. Photo: Canva/Getty Images

9. Take a dip in a Victorian lido
The previously disused and unloved sea lido just west of Pittenweem has recently been given a makeover by volunteers. It's now one of the best place enjoy a swim in Fife. Climb up the hill behind to enjoy crazy golf and try to spot dolphins in the waves below. Photo: JPI Media

10. Take a trip into Scotland's prehistoric past
The coast to the south of Crail Harbour gives a fascinating insight into Scotland's Carboniferous period, 335 million years ago. There are huge fossilised tree stumps and well-preserved giant centipede tracks. Look out for chunks of stigmaria on the shore - fossilised sections of tree roots from the same period of prehistory. 11. Tuck into some of Scotland's tastiest produce
The East Neuk produces some of Scotland's finest food and there are plenty of places to enjoy it. Take a trip to the Blacketyside Farm Shop, to the west of Lower Largo, for some of the tastiest strawberries you will ever eat. Or, while walking the coastal path between Elie and St Monans, pop into Ardross Farm Shop for a dizzying array of fine foods. Photo: Canva/Getty Images
