Boxer’s festive ball raises £1300 for MS

A CHRISTMAS ball held in aid of multiple sclerosis (MS) research has raised £1300.

City boxing champion Alex Arthur organised the black-tie event and auction, with proceeds going to the MS therapy centre in Leith.

The event at the Corn Exchange also raised funds for MS sufferer Dean Reilly, who hopes to use the money to complete challenges including marathons and a bid to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Mr Reilly, 32, from Portobello, has set himself a £10,000 fundraising target and said: “The atmosphere at the dinner was great and, from a standing start, I now have over 20 per cent of the money I need.”

Mr Arthur said: “It was a fantastic event.”
