Family of murdered Armadale dad Billy Watson ‘desperate’ for answers as police make new arrest

Further arrest made today in connection with the death

The family of a “deeply loved” father-of-two Billy Watson who was shot dead in a house in West Lothian have paid tribute to him as a fourth man was arrested in connection with his murder.

Police were called to Harestanes Road, Armadale around 11.50am on September 12, following a report of a 35-year-old man injured within a property. Mr Watson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives later said that following a post-mortem examination, the death was being treated as murder, adding that father of two suffered fatal injuries consistent with being shot by a firearm.

In a statement released by Police Scotland on Tuesday September 22, Billy’s family said: “Billy was a deeply loved son, dad, brother, uncle and friend. We are all desperate to find out any information about this horrific incident.”

Police also stated that a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death. Enquiries are ongoing. Three men, aged 57, 44 and 29, were previously arrested and charged in connection with Billy’s death, and appeared in court on September 18 and 21.

Detectives previously said they are keen to trace the movements of two vehicles seen in the vicinity of Harestanes Road around the time of Mr Watson‘s death.

A blue BMW car and black Vauxhall Mokka were later recovered, but those with doorbell cams, dash cams and any other CCTV footage in the local area are being asked to review footage and are urged to come forward if any of the vehicles are recognised.

The investigation is also focusing on tracing four men who were seen in the area at the time of the fatal firearms incident.
