Edinburgh crime news: Boy, 14, charged in connection with 28 motorcycle theft offences

A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with 28 motorcycle theft offences across Edinburgh.

The teenager was charged on Tuesday, July 5, by officers from the Soteria team – Police Scotland’s divisional response to significant community concerns linked to the theft and antisocial use of motorcycles across the city.

The charges included numerous counts of theft as well as a number of road traffic offences.

The teenager will appear in court at a later date.

It comes as officers in the Capital have confirmed that a 16-year-old boy has been charged in relation to the theft of a motorcycle, along with a number of road traffic offences.

The incident happened in the Leith area on June 19, and police linked the theft of the motorcycle with other incidents of antisocial behaviour across the city.

Police have asked that anyone with information on motorbike crime should contact them on 101.
