Murrayfield police incident: body found in Water of Leith identified as missing Edinburgh man

The body of a man found in the water near Murrayfield Stadium has been identified as missing Arkadiusz Blicharz.

Concerns were growing for the 24-year-old who was last seen in the Gorgie and Dalry areas of the Capital at about 3am on Sunday, October 4.

Officers have confirmed a body found in Water of Leith near Saughtonhall Avenue this afternoon is that of Mr Blicharz.

Police confirmed his family has been made aware.

A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body found at the Water of Leith near Saughtonhall Avenue, Edinburgh, on Thursday, 8 October, has been identified as 24-year-old Arkadiusz Blicharz, who had been reported missing in the area.

“His family have been made aware.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
