Silverknowes Promenade: man's body found near Edinburgh beach

A man's body has been found near a beach in Edinburgh.

Officers are currently investigating Silverknowes Promenade and the surrounding areas where the body was found on Monday, 5 October at about 9am.

A concerned resident in the area said the area between Gypsy Brae and Boardwalk Cafe has been closed and police are in attendance.

Emergency services assisting with the ongoing incident and it has been reported several police cars and a white tent are also at the scene.

The identity of the man has not yet been confirmed.

A police spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a man's body found near Silverknowes beach, Edinburgh, around 9am on Monday, 5 October.

"Officers and the ambulance service are currently in attendance. Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the identity of the man and the full circumstances.

"Marine Drive is closed to allow emergency service access, and as are the surrounding footpaths to the area.”
