Police Scotland Air Unit announced on social media that the search had been unsuccessful and the two people were still missing at 9pm.

This morning Police Scotland were unable to confirm whether or not the pair had been found.

But police have now revealed that the two missing people were the same missing teenagers who had caused police to shut a section of the A1 in East Lothian last night to look for them.

The pair were found safe and well on the A911 at around 9.15pm, police said.
