Wester Hailes: Arrest made after man seriously injured following an altercation in Edinburgh

An arrest has been made after a 23-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an altercation on the canal path.

The incident took place around midnight on Sunday in the Wester Hailes area of the Capital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Around five past midnight, on Sunday, 4 April 2021, a 23 year old man was seriously injured following an altercation on the canal path next to Hailesland Road at the junction with Hailesland Grove, Wester Hailes, Edinburgh.

"He was taken by ambulance to The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff court on Tuesday, 6 April, 2021.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The area was still cordoned off on Sunday morning at the canal path.
