Objections mount against plans to build 91 new homes near Livingston
West Lothian Council set to make a decision on the proposals next week
Plans have been submitted for 91 new homes in Dechmont, West Lothian.
Colin Macfarlane, from John Blackwood Macfarlane and Lovell Homes, has submitted plans for the properties to the south of Main Street and west of the A89.
Next week, West Lothian Council’s Development Management Committee will consider the application for approval for the units, landscaping, open space, access, drainage and ‘other associated development’.
30 members of the public have objected to the application, some more than once, in response to amended plans. In addition, Dechmont Community Council has objected.
West Lothian planners are expected to make a decision next week.
This application was initially for 106 units though, following discussion around design and layout, and in particular the detailed assessment of flooding and drainage issues, the layout was amended and the number of units reduced to 91.

The permission also requires a 40m landscaping belt on the eastern edge of the site.
It was subject to a legal agreement which secures developer contributions for education infrastructure, and play areas, along with the delivery of affordable housing and a path connection along the A899.
The majority of the site is allocated in the West Lothian Local Development Plan (LDP) for residential development.
The development plan allocation also recommends that the woodland to the south is retained.
