East Lothian A1 crash: Woman and two children rushed to hospital after collision near Haddington

Emergency services attended the one-vehicle crash, which took place on the A1 near the Gladsmuir junction, at around 5pm on Thursday, December 8. A 37-year-old woman and two children, aged eight and 11, were rushed to hospital by ambulance.

The current condition of the woman and children is not known.

On Thursday evening, police closed the southbound lane of the road between Haddington and Oaktree for several hours, before re-opening shortly before 11pm. Drivers on the road were stuck in stand-still traffic, as officers urged motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5pm on Thursday, 8 December, 2022, we were called to a report of a one vehicle crash on the A1 southbound between Gladsmuir and Oaktree, near Haddington.

“A 37-year-old woman and two children, aged eight and 11, were taken to hospital by ambulance.

“The road was reopened around 10.50pm."
