Edinburgh plans unveiled for 275 new homes as part of the wider Granton Waterfront Masterplan

Latest phase in large north Edinburgh regeneration project

Plans have been unveiled to build up to 275 new homes as part of the wider Granton Waterfront Masterplan.

The proposed latest phase of the large regeneration project for the area in the north of Edinburgh, will see the delivery of plots B1 and B2 to the west of the Granton Gasholder landmark.

The proposals are for a residential development of up to 275 new homes of mixed tenure with both council homes and private for sale, along with associated site development, landscaping, open space, access, drainage and servicing, and other external works.

The City of Edinburgh Council submitted a proposal of application notice for these plans, to transform the currently vacant land 250 metres east of 11 West Shore Road, to its own planning department on July 6.

Few details are currently available regarding this latest phase of the waterfront masterplan, with more expected to be revealed at two public consultation events scheduled to take place at Granton Station Building, 4pm-7pm, on unconfirmed dates, during the weeks beginning August 24 and September 28.

A webpage will be set up to host PDF copies of any consultation boards. A link to this will be shared on the Granton Waterfront website, newsletter and social media pages.

Following the consultation period, a full planning application for the 275 new homes is expected to be submitted later this year.

A new public park officially opened at the Granton Gasholder in April last year as part of the £1.3 billion regeneration of Granton Waterfront to become a new environmentally friendly coastal town.

A landmark on the Edinburgh skyline since 1901, Granton’s Gasholder sits in the heart of Granton Waterfront. Now a restored space for everyone to enjoy, Gasholder 1 Park celebrates Granton’s rich industrial heritage while offering modern leisure facilities.
