Edinburgh woman backs Leicester to win Premier League at 5000-1..but only puts on 5p

AN EDINBURGH woman is set to collect 5000-1 winnings on a spur of the moment bet on Leicester City to win the Premier League.

But the 42-year-old will no doubt be left kicking herself as she only put on 5p, meaning her winnings will be a mere £250 if Claudio Ranieri’s team complete the unlikely win.

If she had put on £5 instead, she would be collecting £25,000.

William Hill bookmakers said the woman is one of 25 people across the UK who bet on the Foxes at the start of the season.

A spokesman said: “We do not know why the woman decided to pick Leicester City or is she even remembers placing the bet.

“Our minimum bet is three pence so she was over that. We have had a lot of money put on Leicester since the start of the season but only 25 placed bets when the odds were 5000-1.”
