Edinburgh woman thanks kind strangers after being hit by car in the city centre
Blythe Ewert praised the emergency services and members of the public who stopped to help her
An Edinburgh woman has thanked the kind strangers who came to her aid after she was struck by a car in the city centre.
Blythe Ewert was hit by a vehicle on Hanover Street during the heavy rain, leaving her sore and bruised.
Taking to social media following the incident, Blythe praised the emergency services and members of the public who stopped to help her while she waited for an ambulance.

She said passers-by covered her with their own coats and umbrellas to protect her from the pouring rain, with some even holding her hand as she waited for the paramedics to arrive.
In a heartfelt message, Blythe wrote: “ A massive thank you to the incredible police and ambulance service, as well as all the kind people who stopped to help me and sat with me.”
She added that she was “sore and bruised but with nothing broken” following the collision.
The incident left Blythe with a renewed appreciation for the kindness of strangers, with her saying the experience had restored her belief in the “extreme kindness of average folk”.
Blythe also thanked her friend, Fiona Bernett, who stayed by her side and held her hand while simultaneously running an event for 140 guests.
Describing her pal as “incredible”, Blythe shared a selfie taken with an ambulance worker following the incident.
She ended her post with a light-hearted message, joking: “Had to get the ambulance selfie - I hope I make the Edinburgh Evening News.”
The post also prompted a proud message from the wife of the man pictured in the selfie.
Louise McNicoll commented beneath the photo to identify the man as her husband, Andrew, writing: “This is my husband Andrew, very proud of the work he does everyday! Hope you’re okay! Xx”
From offering shelter in the rain to simply staying beside someone in distress, the strangers who stopped to help Blythe showed the compassion that can be found in the heart of Edinburgh.
