The youngster, who was born in June 2025, will now live alongside Edinburgh Zoo’s much-loved 11-year-old male red panda Bruce.

Keepers at the wildlife conservation charity are hopeful the pair could eventually welcome cubs, with hopes of hearing the “patter of tiny paws” in the future.

Yun’s name is an East Asian word for “cloud” and is said to connote lightness, beauty and good fortune.

Red Pandas are native to the high-altitude temperate and subalpine forests of the Eastern Himalayas and south-western China.

The species is recognised for its distinctive reddish-brown fur, bushy ringed tails and tree climbing abilities.

The arrival of Yun marks an exciting new chapter for the zoo’s red pandas, with visitors now able to look out for the young female as she settles into her new surroundings alongside Bruce.

Edinburgh Zoo is having quite the autumn welcoming all of its new arrivals, including three baby capybaras.
