Flybe to offer East Midlands

FLYBE is to launch new routes to Edinburgh from its base at East Midlands Airport following BMI’s withdrawal of the service in June.

The news comes after Flybe announced it is pulling out of its Aberdeen to Gatwick service from next month.

Flybe will fly return routes to Edinburgh and Glasgow, three times a day, six days a week.

Passengers can also take advantage of connections to the Highlands and Scottish islands with Loganair.

Andrew Strong, Flybe UK’s managing director, said: “We have strived to create a schedule that appeals to both business and leisure travellers and so are pleased with the response, with the take-up of our early morning southbound and evening northbound flights in particular.”

Ken O’Toole, CCO for airport operator Manchester Airports Group, added: “It’s clear, based on previous demand, that links to Edinburgh and Glasgow are important to our passengers.”
