M80 closed as Storm Doris hits

The M80 has been closed Northbound after J5 Auchenkilns & S/B from J9 Bannockburn due to snow.

The motorway has been seriously affected by winter conditions with images from traffic cameras showing drivers skidding and struggling to maintain control of their vehicles as the storm hits.

Gritters are on the route to try and reopen the affected carriageways.

Police have urged drivers to remain with their vehicles and to be aware of the surrounding conditions.

Numerous weather warnings are currently in place across Scotland as the storm continues.

Commuters travelling to and from Edinburgh on the M80 have been warned to plan ahead.
