Man charged with 19 ‘vehicle-related crimes’ in Edinburgh allegedly reoffends whilst out on bail
A 33-year-old man charged with a string of ‘vehicle-related crimes’ appeared in court this week after allegedly reoffending whilst on bail.
Officers in Edinburgh arrested the man earlier in the month following an investigation into a series of thefts between December and February, including stealing vehicles and attempted thefts.
The man was charged with 19 offences on February 2 and remanded in custody before appearing in court the following day. But after being released on bail, officers received reports of a man ‘trying car door handles in Latta Place’ on February 7, prompting an investigation into the incident.
The same man was traced by police and charged in connection with the incident. He appeared in court again on Monday, February 9.
Police said the alleged offences occurred across several streets, including Kekewich Avenue, Willowbrae Avenue, Ulster Crescent, Hamilton Grove, Wakefield Avenue, Sydney Terrace, Latta Place and Northfield Drive.

Police Scotland Edinburgh said: “Between December 2025 and February 2026, officers investigated a series of vehicle-related crimes, including thefts from motor vehicles, attempted thefts, Section 57 offences and thefts of motor vehicles.
“The North East Local Initiative Team identified a male responsible for these incidents and on Monday 2 February 2026, a 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with 19 offences. He was held in custody to appear at court on Tuesday 3 February, where he was later released on bail.
“In the early hours of Saturday 7 February, officers responded to a report from members of the public that a male was trying car door handles in Latta Place. The same male was traced, arrested and charged. He was held in custody to appear at court on Monday February 9.”
