A 25-year-old man from Edinburgh said he ‘can’t believe his luck’ after winning nearly £60,000 from a £1 bet at his local casino.

The mystery man said he had been at Grosvenor Casino Edinburgh Maybury for around 40 minutes before he struck gold while playing Three Card Poker

In a remarkable stroke of luck, the Edinburgh local secured a straight flush – a hand with five cards of the same suit in sequence - during a brief moment when the player next to him stepped away. His fortuitous £1 side bet resulted in a £59,409 jackpot win, leaving the winner shaking with awe and disbelief as the dealer confirmed his victory.

The lucky winner said he now plans to buy a new car and book a holiday with his winnings.

The 25-year-old said: “I can’t believe my luck. I hadn’t even been in the casino for an hour when I decided to place the £1 side bet – a bet that I never would have imagined would turn into over £59,000.”

He added: “I cannot wait to get a brand-new car and spend some time abroad relaxing.”

Andrew Miller, general manager at Grosvenor Casino Edinburgh Maybury, said: “A huge congratulations to our local winner on his big win. It was a wonderful night filled with lots of cheering. The team were so excited for him and we hope he enjoys his new car and holiday. Hopefully this amazing luck continues for many more in our casino.”
