Mystery Edinburgh man wins £59,000 jackpot after placing bet for just £1 at Maybury casino

The mystery man said he had been at Grosvenor Casino Edinburgh Maybury for around 40 minutes before he struck gold while playing Three Card Poker. 

In a remarkable stroke of luck, the Edinburgh local secured a straight flush – a hand with five cards of the same suit in sequence - during a brief moment when the player next to him stepped away. His fortuitous £1 side bet resulted in a £59,409 jackpot win, leaving the winner shaking with awe and disbelief as the dealer confirmed his victory.

The lucky winner said he now plans to buy a new car and book a holiday with his winnings. 

The 25-year-old said: “I can’t believe my luck. I hadn’t even been in the casino for an hour when I decided to place the £1 side bet – a bet that I never would have imagined would turn into over £59,000.”

He added: “I cannot wait to get a brand-new car and spend some time abroad relaxing.”
