Full steam ahead with new comedy shows and tours - Karen Koren
As we head towards the festive break, we’ve been full steam ahead launching new shows, spring tours and our annual comedy newcomer competition, So You Think You’re Funny?
Applications are now open for your chance to join the likes of Lee Mack, Aisling Bea, Ivo Graham, Peter Kay and recently-crowned Taskmaster Champion Maisie Adam. So You Think You’re Funny? is the longest running and most established competition of its kind, finding and nurturing new comedians since 1988.
We have also announced the spring edition of our national comedy tour The Big Comedy Roadshow with a star-studded line up travelling from Ayr to Arbroath next April.
Award-winning TV comedian, writer and Taskmaster Champion, Sophie Duker is our headliner, following appearances on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Joining her is Radio 4 Comedy legend Jo Caulfield, described as “quite simply, a damn funny woman” by The Scotsman and the brilliant sketch comedian Mark Black.
The hugely talented Ayo Adenekan completes the line up following a sell-out debut Fringe in 2025 with Chris Forbes, star of BBC’s Scot Squad, as host.
Still to come this week at The Gilded Saloon are the festive editions of our regular shows Story Platform and The Comedy Show.
A stacked line up of comedians have been rehearsing and scripting sketches for a double-billing of Story Platform tomorrow evening that's sure to leave you falling out of your seat (7.30pm and 9pm).
The Comedy Show is wrapping up for the year with a stellar line up this Saturday (7.30pm) featuring Sam Lake, Kathleen Hughes, Alana Jackson, Sean Chalmers and Stuart McPherson.
Looking beyond the festivities we’ve already got an exciting programme line up for 2026 in The Gilded Saloon. The hilarious Robin Grainger is launching his live podcast and chat show Specialist Subject, inviting top comedians to talk about their area of interest once a month.
Gareth Mutch: Stand-up Sessions brings together rising stars, seasoned pros and the occasional wildcard for a night that’s part comedy club, part gig.
Fringe favourites Tartan Tabletop return with their Dungeons & Dragons comedy show following a sold out production last week and the creators of Insane Magic will be hosting a new bi-weekly show Underground Magic.
Lastly, we’re also very excited to welcome our first solo shows at The Gilded Saloon with Nate Kitch, Maisie Adam, Amanda Hursy, Madeleine Brettingham and Fab Goualin all taking to the stage early next year.
Book your tickets early for these shows so you don’t miss out! Have a great Christmas everyone!
