With Meadowbank stadium still a building site, I'm going further afield to Newhaven to experience the huge beautiful complex that is the David Lloyd Gym Newhaven.
I did look at a few others but they're in the middle of town with no parking and seem quite basic. Also, if I'm going to be spending a lot of time in a gym getting beach-body ready over the next few months, then a little glam, sparkle and a swimming pool always helps make it easier to get committed.
I've never been a member before at David Lloyd. However, I've taken my eldest to classes there and have to say I was massively impressed and always thought it seemed like a mini adventure land and not an intimidating gym.
It almost felt like being on holiday with a huge crèche, cafe chill-out area, swimming pool and that's not to mention the important bit... the gym.
The place feels very welcoming to me which is also really important having two sections, a wobbly belly, a weak bladder, the start of arthritis and the flexibility of a 990-year-old couch potato.
So to say I'm excited to join the massive welcoming space down at Newhaven is an understatement.
And if you see some old dear on the treadmill, out of puff, red faced and happy – come say hi and we'll get beach-body ready together! And if you don't catch me in the gym or the pool – you'll probably find me in the cafe with a well-earned flat white.
