9. Cult Coffee Roasters
Evening News editor Rhoda Morrison loves a cuppa at this city centre coffee shop. She said: "I must have walked past Cult Coffee so many times before, but it wasn't until my friend mentioned it had been recommended to her that I paid it a visit. The front of the shop is easy to miss, but once you're in, it is a really cosy place to meet friends for a coffee or even to sit alone and read or do work. There's loads of seating, the coffee is great and the food is lovely too." | Google Maps Photo: Google Maps
10. Mosque Kitchen
Reporter Kevin Quinn loves a discount curry at this city centre restaurant. He said: "This Nicolson Square eaterie is a favourite of mine due to its location in the city centre and of course it’s incredible food, served at a reasonable price. The informal, family-friendly budget curry joint offers no-frills cuisine, with disposable tableware, in an almost school cafeteria like environment, with customers sharing long tables as if in a dinner hall. This is the perfect place to meet friends for a quick bite to eat without breaking the bank, before maybe heading down to the Cowgate for a gig or the Grassmarket for a pint." | Ian Georgeson Photo: National World
