9. Deep Sea World
This North Queensferry attraction is host to a collection of large sand tiger sharks, also known as ragged toothed sharks or grey nurse sharks, and various other species of shark. There are also seals, eagle rays, star fish, cat fish and so much more sea life to enjoy.

10. Inchcolm Island
Inchcolm, an island in the Firth of Forth, was repeatedly attacked by English raiders during the Wars of Scottish Independence, and was fortified during both World Wars to defend nearby Edinburgh. Inchcolm now attracts visitors to its former Augustine Abbey, which was established on this island originally as a priory by David I in 1235. It is the best-preserved group of monastic buildings in Scotland.

11. Edinburgh International Climbing Arena
Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA) in Ratho is Europe’s largest indoor climbing centre and alongside world-class climbing walls, features a bouldering room and a gym overlooking the main quarry. It’s easy to get to the EICA via car or even bicycle if you travel via the Union Canal. Photo: Ian Rutherford
