As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, many owners are being forced to give up their beloved pets. Which means animal shelters like Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home are busier than ever. If you are looking for a rewarding companion who will love you unconditionally, these are the dogs currently available for adoption at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. If you are interested in meeting one of them, contact the rescue on 0131 669 5331 or visit the website. And if you’re not able to adopt, you can also support the charity by donating dog food or fundraising for them.
5. Ted
Five-year-old American bulldog Ted is a lovely big boy who loves meeting people and being fussed over. He has lots of personality and is very cuddly, but also cheeky. He likes playing with toys, especially footballs. He enjoys his walks, and he gets on with other dogs when he is out, but he doesn’t want to share his home with another pet. He has shown some guarding behaviour around food in the past, so he needs an owner who has some knowledge of this. Ted had surgery on his leg, so his new owner must be able to provide any further treatment necessary, as he will not be covered by insurance for this. Ted is looking for an experienced owner who is prepared to continue his training, and he would like to have company for most of the day. Photo: EDCH
6. Kylo
Nine-year-old German shepherd and collie cross Kylo is a nervous boy who will require several visits to become comfortable with his new owners, and more visits to build up a trust with them. He is very wary around new people so needs a dedicated person who will help him overcome this. When he gets to know you he is very loving and is sure to be a great companion for the right people. He is wary around other dogs and will sometimes bark at passing bikes, but he has been working very hard in his training sessions and is very eager to please. Kylo is an older boy, but he still loves walking and will chase after a ball for as long as it is thrown for him. EDCH said: "We think he deserves the chance to enjoy his golden years in a happy and loving home, and he is sure to be a very rewarding pet and bring a lot of joy to his new owners." Photo: EDCH
