The fundraiser to raise money for the funeral of Edinburgh woman Elaine McArthur has almost reached its target.

Elaine was last seen on April 18 on Crewe Road North, and police confirmed that a body was found in their search for her in the Granton area of the city on April 25.

Elaine’s son Harry gave an emotional tribute on social media saying: “Mum was always an incredible mother to myself and my sister, Rebecca, and was loved so much more than she ever knew.

“Rest in peace beautiful.”

The fundraising page for Elaine also pays homage to the midwife claiming: “Many people have said such lovely things about her, and none of them undeserved.a caring woman, nurse, lecturer, and above all mother.

“I am not going to outline private matters in order to ask you to donate towards her funeral, but ask you to trust me that it is required, and will help greatly at a time when her children have enough other sad matters to deal with.”

The fundraiser has set out to raise £3,800 and has already hit just over £3,500.
