It is understood the flyover could be a legacy from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The Red Arrows were scheduled to pass over the Capital on August 15 as part of the 75th VJ Day commemorations before flying on to Belfast, Cardiff and London. The event was organised to commemorate VJ Day on August 15, 1945 - the day World War Two ended with Japan's surrender after the US dropped two atomic bombs in the country, killing 214,000 people.
