In our latest reporters’ recommendations feature, we take a look at what we think are the best Italian restaurants in Edinburgh. There are so many great Italian restaurants in the Capital and we have chosen our favourites, including Mamma Roma at the top of Leith Walk, Domenico’s down the shore and Vittoria on the Bridge.
Whether you are looking for the tastiest pizza or most succulent pasta these restaurants should satisfy your taste buds.
Edinburgh Evening News editor Rhoda Morrison chose this Grassmarket Italian restaurant as her favourite in the city. She said: "This is one of my go-to restaurants to take people who come to visit in Edinburgh - they always want to go to the Grassmarket for obvious reasons - and I've never had a bad experience. The staff are always really friendly, they have lovely drinks and the food is brilliant. It's just a really nice atmosphere and I'm already looking forward to the next time I go!" Photo: Google
This Bank Street Italian eaterie at the Mound was chosen by Evening News reporter Anna Bryan as her favourite in Edinburgh. She said: "It's more of a cafe than a restaurant but Italian On the Mound is my favourite. They serve up delicious pizza, pasta and flatbreads, and their cannoli is to die for." Photo: Google
Although just outside Edinburgh, Evening News lifestyle editor Gary Flockhart's favourite Italian restaurant is the Caprice in Musselburgh. He said: "The Caprice in Musselburgh is a family-run business that's served the area for decades. If it's no frills good Italian food you are looking for, you can't go wrong here. The pasta dishes are delicous and their wood-fired pizzas are better than any you'll find in Edinburgh city centre." Photo: Google
