'Would be so lovely to reunite it with its owner': Gold ring found in the Edinburgh snow

An Edinburgh local who found a gold ring in the snow is hoping to reunite it with its owner.

Dr Sarah Laurenson was out enjoying the snow with her family on Bruntsfield Links at around 8am on Thursday when the discovery was made.

She said: “My husband saw something glinting, picked it up and dusted the snow off.

"It looks to have been worn daily for some years, judging by the wear, so is special to someone.

"Would be so lovely to reunite it with its owner.”

The ring has an engraving inside which Sarah is not releasing to lessen the chance of false claimants.

Sarah has contacted Police Scotland’s to inform them, and has also posted across Facebook groups.

Anyone who has lost a ring in that area, or believes they know who the ring belongs to, Sarah can be contacted on social media, or you can drop a message to the Edinburgh Evening News.
