A beloved community pub is making a long-awaited comeback after it closed its doors earlier this year.

Tamson’s Bar on the corner of Easter Road and St Clair Street had been a regular haunt for local and football fans for decades thanks to its close proximity to the HIbs stadium.

However, regulars were left heartbroken after the pub announced its sudden closure earlier this year.

Now, months on from the news, it has been revealed that Tamson’s will be making a return to Easter Road.

The new premises will be opened by the team behind the popular Leith Bottle Shop, located on Great Junction Street.

Announcing the news on social media, the new owners said: “Exciting news… we’re opening a pub!!

“Local beer, hot pies and good times coming to 280 Easter Road from the team behind Leith Bottle Shop.”

Tamson’s Bar is set to reopen this autumn, however a specific opening date has not yet been confirmed.

The news that Tamson’s will be making a return has been warmly welcomed by the community.

One excited local said: “Woah! Amazing news, huge congrats! Excited to peruse the pie menu.”

Another added: “No way!!! This is so cool, congrats congrats!!! And what a pub!!!”

Leith Bottle Shop first opened its doors in May 2022 and had become a favourite for locals and visitors to the neighbourhood alike.

The previous owner of Tamson’s Bar announced the pub’s sudden closure in May, telling patrons: “Sadly decision has been made to move on from my time at Tamson’s.

“Thank you for all the support and amazing memories over the last 3 years, it's been a ball and made some great friendships. Great pub with great people.”

Prior to this ownership, Tamson’s was owned and operated by the late publican Michael Dickson and Gerry D’Agostino from the late 1980s through until the ‘90s.
