Car crashes through Queensferry Road pedestrian crossing railing

A car has crashed through a railing at a pedestrian crossing on a busy Edinburgh road this afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to the collision, involving one vehicle, on Queensferry Road close to the crossroads with Orchard Brae, at about 3:15pm.

The car came to rest on the pedestrian crossing island to the east of the crossroads and pictures show the railing has been badly damaged.

Details of any injuries are not known at this stage but the Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted.
