The spokeswoman added: "There does not appear to be any serious injuries."

She said the road was completely blocked at 3:20pm but it's unclear if the road has been fully reopened.

There have been some local reports of traffic being brought to a standstill in the area with only cyclists and pedestrians getting along the road.

The council-run Edinburgh Travel News reported the incident and said the Lothian service 38 was being diverted via Colinton Road-Glenlockhart Road--Morningside Grove.
