Warning for drivers as Edinburgh City Bypass slip roads set for overnight closures near Gilmerton
Landscape management works will impact thew Gilmerton junction over the next two weeks
Drivers are being warned to plan their journey ahead of time with overnight slip road closures beginning from this evening (August 31).
BEAR Scotland, the operating company of Transport Scotland, confirmed that the slip road at the Gilmerton junction will be subjected to overnight closures from August 31 until September 11.
The closures are being undertaken to carry our landscape management works, including the removal of dangerous and diseased trees and other vegetation.

From Monday, August 31 until Monday, September 7, the Gilmerton eastbound off-slip will be closed between 10pm and 6am.
During this period, traffic will be diverted via the Lasswade junction, Gilmerton Station Road and Gilmerton Road.
From Tuesday, September 8 until Friday, September 11, the Gilmerton westbound slip-on will be closed between 10pm and 6am.
This route will be diverted in the opposite direction along Gilmerton Road to Gilmerton Station Road and onto the Lasswade junction.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close these slip roads while work is taking place. Our advice if you need to use the A720 at night during this period is to plan ahead and allow additional time for your journey.
“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”
