Edinburgh roads: Here are all the current locations of fixed speed cameras in the Capital

Here’s the latest on where drivers are being clocked breaking the speed limit.

There are a number of different speed cameras at work monitoring traffic on Scotland’s roads, including mobile speed, average speed, variable speed and traffic light cameras.

When most of us think of speed cameras, we thing of fixed speed cameras – the yellow or yellow-and-red boxes that are affixed to lampposts and capture images of speeding cars’ numberplates.

There are actually a number of different types of fixed speed cameras, the first of which was the Digital Gatso speed camera, which initially used film to capture those breaking the law but which now use digital photos.

The newer Truvelo Combi speed cameras are slightly more high-tech, using infra red where the Gatso uses an old fashioned flash.

What they have in common is that they can lead to a fine and points on your licence.

Here are all the fixed speed cameras currently active in Edinburgh, as highlighted by the Scottish Government’s dedicated website.
