Over 30 flights out of Edinburgh Airport have been cancelled, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded in the city.

“Living the dream… until lunchtime when I end up stranded in Edinburgh due to Flybe’s collapse...” said one traveller.

But they added that there are ‘worse places to be stranded’.

“My parents are in Edinburgh, due to fly back to Cardiff today with Flybe. Not sure how they can get home now,” said another.

“I’ve flown one way to Edinburgh and not sure how I’m getting home later today with Flybe collapse,” another stranded passenger added.

Edinburgh residents have also been stuck elsewhere in the country.

“RIP Flybe you’ve taken me on some of my best holidays and I always knew you were there if I needed to fly home. How do I fly back to Edinburgh now?,” asked one traveller.

The collapse is also predicted to affect the Scotland v France Six Nations rugby game on Sunday.

“I should be flying to Edinburgh for Scotland v France in Six Nations. I can’t go now due to Flybe collapse,” said one rugby fan.

“However my own disappointment is nothing compared to the many people losing their jobs today. I hope they can all find work,” he added.

Other frequent flyers added good wishes to Flybe staff who have lost their jobs.

“It really is a sad day for the UK regions and nations. My condolences to all Flybe staff, they have always been wonderful,” one wrote.
