Turnout in Nicola Sturgeon’s seat sees huge leap

Turnout in Glasgow Southside, the seat contested by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, has seen its turnout rise by more than 10 per cent.

According to election officials, 59.7 per cent of registered voters cast ballots this year - up from 48 per cent in 2016.

Lights come back on at Dumfries count

The SNP have held the seat of Falkirk East. Michelle Thomson, formerly an MP for the party, won the seat with 18,417 votes.

Scottish Labour came second, with 10,832 votes.

Angus Robertson arrives at Edinburgh Central count

Former SNP MP Angus Robertson has arrived at the count for Edinburgh Central.

The party grandee is hoping to overtake the Scottish Conservatives in the seat, previously held by Ruth Davidson.

Nicola Sturgeon arrives at the Glasgow count

SNP gain East Lothian from Labour

The SNP has won the East Lothian constituency from the Labour Party in the first switch of the election.

Paul McLennan won 17,968 votes in the seat, which was held by former Labour leader Iain Gray until his retirement this year.

Scottish Labour’s candidate Martin Whitfield won 16,789 votes with a turnout of 69.1 per cent.
