A helter skelter slide in Edinburgh city centre had to be braced by ropes and van to stop it blowing over as gale force winds battered the Capital.

The images, taken today (Tuesday) on Castle Street, show the children's slide with ropes attached to it and a van paked underneath, preventing it blowing towards Princes Street.

Edinburgh Christmas Market has been closed all morning due to the 60mph gusts.
