West Lothian mum scoops £1m EuroMillions prize with late friend's lucky numbers

The West Lothian mum decided to continue using her late friend's lucky numbers in her honour

A West Lothian mum has won a life-changing £1 million EuroMillions prize using numbers played by her late friend.

The woman scooped the jackpot through the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on Friday, August 21 after matching the winning raffle code.

Incredibly, the numbers on her ticket were those played regularly by her late friend.

The mum, whose name has been kept under wraps, decided to continue using the numbers in her friend's honour and believes they proved to be her lucky charm.

Speaking about her win, she said: “I played because I always felt like I was going to win, and I think that those numbers were a lucky charm.

“Despite that, I was still shocked to hear it was £1 million I had won, and I’m just so relieved and happy that my family and I can always be financially stable.”

The winner said she plans to use some of the money to buy her first home and also hopes to treat her family to a holiday following the surprise.

Lynn Devlin, winners' advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the mum on her win.

She said: “What a touching tribute that should maintain your friend’s numbers in their honour, and how fitting that that was the ticket that secured your 1 million prize.

“Many congratulations to you and your family- enjoy your holiday.”
