As if 2020 could get any weirder, pop twins Jedward have embarked on a Twitter war with the Stone Roses frontman, after Ian Brown’s skeptical comments over wearing a mask.

Brown has made controversial comments on social media about the coronavirus pandemic - and the Irish twins stepped in to have their say.

What was said between Jedward and Ian Brown?

On 15 September, Jedward responded to Brown’s latest tweet which said, “So I'm a Conspiracy Theorist HA! a term invented by the lame stream media to discredit those who can smell and see through the government/media lies and propaganda #researchanddestroy."

Calling the Manchester singer out, Jedward replied, “The public have lost all respect and credibility for your views!”

With an added heart emoji they continued, “Your music and cheekbones are a dream but your tweets are a nightmare."

John and Edward Grimes (otherwise known as Jedward) were finalists on the sixth series of TV talent show The X Factor in 2009. The twins have also represented Ireland in two consecutive Eurovision Song Contest’s, in 2011 and 2012.

Jedward vs Noel Gallagher

Later, the identical twins continued their Twitter battle, challenging former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, over comments the singer made on Matt Morgan’s Funny How podcast.

The 53 year old wrongly claimed wearing a face mask was “not the law” saying, “There’s too many f**king liberties being taken away from us now.”

Jedward tweeted Gallagher, saying, “Today is gonna be the day @NoelGallagher That we're gonna throw it back to you by now you should've somehow Realised what you gotta do and Wear a mask because we’re gonna be the ones that save you and after all we’re your Wonderwall Love Jedward and @Liamgallagher.”

It is currently UK law to wear face masks indoors in public spaces. This includes hairdressers, shops, cinemas and takeaways. They are also required to be worn on public transport, with the exception being when eating.

Speaking on the podcast, Gallagher was critical of masks, saying, “I choose not to wear one and if I get the virus it’s on me, it’s not on anyone else. If every other c***’s wearing a mask I’m not gonna catch it off them, and If I’ve got it then they’re not gonna catch it off me. I think it’s a p**stake.”
