The 31-year-old made it onto the list alongside a range of illustrious names from Europan football after his performance in Hearts’ 4-1 thumping of St Mirren.

Naismith netted a first-half hat-trick, while also providing an intelligent assist for Olly Lee’s strike, earning him a deserved place in FIFA’s 45th Team of the Week. He was also chosen as the star man in the SPFL team of the week.

The victory over the Buddies kept Hearts atop the Ladbrokes Premiership as the only side to have won all four league fixtures.

His week was improved further when he was recalled to the Scotland national team for the friendly with Belgium and opening Uefa Nations League match against Albania after Swansea City’s Oli McBurnie pulled out with injury.

Although on Wednesday he was involved in a car crash in Edinburgh with Hearts and Scotland team-mate John Souttar. Both escaped without injury.

The former Everton and Rangers forward was been an integral part of Hearts’ success this season, playing in a deeper role, whether it is behind the forwards or in midfield. He has, however, still managed four league goals and three assists.
