Hearts striker Tony Watt has been drafted into the Scotland squad for Sunday's World Cup qualifier away in Malta.

The on-loan Charlton forward, who scored his first goal for the Jambos away at Partick last weekend, was called up by Gordon Strachan after Celtic hit-man Leigh Griffiths pulled out of the group with a hamstring injury.

Watt, 22, has been capped once by Scotland, coming as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over Czech Republic in March this year.

Midfielders James McArthur (Crystal Palace) and Kevin McDonald (Fulham) and Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney have also departed the squad due to injury, with Rangers full-back Lee Wallace brought in to replace Tierney.
