'Great wing play' - Ex-Hearts ace and BBC pundits back referee penalty call for Queen of the South

Ex-Hearts ace Ryan Stevenson and fellow BBC pundit Leeann Crichton believe referee Collin Steven made the correct decision to award Queen of the South a penalty.

The Doonhamers took a first-half lead against the league leaders with Ayo Obileye’s disputed penalty beating Craig Gordon.

Stephen Kingsley was adjudged to have fouled Isiah Jones in the box by Steven when it looked like the Queens winger had flicked his leg out against the the defender.

Stevenson said: "I see Craigy Gordon is going off there and he’s having a bit of a go but it is great wing play.

"He knows what he is doing here. He put his leg across, it’s great wing play.”

Crichton added: “He’s got pace to burn. He’s absolutely used it to the best of his ability.

"It’s right on the line, it’s very close. I think that’s why the Hearts players are perhaps disappointed it’s been given.”
