Hearts' home form to sow 'seed of doubt' in Tynecastle opponents as ex Rangers star brands Jambos 'a problem'
Jambos extended their flawless league Tynecastle record on Sunday against Dundee
Former Hearts captain Michael Stewart reckons teams will come to Tynecastle with a ‘seed of doubt’ in their head amid their impressive home record, while ex Rangers defender Alan Hutton described the Jambos as ‘a problem’.
Wouter Vrancken’s men left it late on Sunday in the Premiership against Dundee - but once again their Gorgie winning mentality shone through, as winger Sabah Kerjota struck in the 96th minute to secure a 2-1 comeback victory. Hearts have now won 11 of 12 league games at Tynecastle in 2026 - the only exception being a stalemate with champions Celtic in January.
Speaking on Premier Sports’ Scottish Football Social Club podcast, pundit Stewart crunched the numbers on Hearts’ recent Tynecastle heroics. He believes that if their run of consecutive league victories continues, it can have a psychological effect on the opponent before the game has even started.

Hearts’ home form can sow ‘seed of doubt’
He said: “That home record's important because they now haven’t lost since April 2025 in the league. I think it's now 10 victories at home in the league in a row. Once you start building a fortress like that - which was obviously the case last season, now it’s carrying on this season too - and you get a victory like that, 1-0 down, 86 minutes and you still win the game... Honestly, that sort of thing takes so long to build up. Teams will be going to Tynecastle and they will be with a seed of doubt already in their mind. Many, many teams - and that’s huge, it really is.”
Dundee’s Simon Murray was the last man to score an away Scottish Premiership winner in Gorgie. Since then, former boss Derek McInnes established the Tynecastle fortress which new gaffer Vrancken has now extended into this season. During the last campaign, it was ultimately Hearts’ away form which cost them the league title - but their most recent trips on the road are two outings that’ll live long in the memory.

Rangers hero brands Hearts ‘a problem’
Ex Rangers defender Hutton watched both of Hearts’ wins over Rapid Vienna and Hibs in recent weeks - and is starting to get worried for his old side. He added: “I'll be honest. I was watching that derby game, the set-up of the team and how they played, and I’m thinking ‘this team's going to be a problem this year’, for the likes of Rangers.
“You think of them in Europe against Vienna. They found a way to win down to 10 men. They won that game! They done it last year too. But I think under Wouter Vrancken, they play different. It's a different style, so they're very easy on the eye when they get into their stride. So let's see how it ends up.”
