Made a save he would expect to make early on and then a loose pass, but the goalkeeper was largely untroubled thereafter.

Young defender on loan from Bournemouth followed up his man-of-the-match debut with another confident display. Looks like a superb addition.

Has surely never made a better pass or assist than the raking 70-yarder to set up Smith’s goal. Made a goal-saving tackle too but later limped off.

Booked early in the second half, but otherwise a very assured performance from the man Hearts want to build their team around.

RM – MICHAEL SMITH 9

Great run, superb touch and deft left-foot finish for his goal. Played a big part in Ginnelly’s second too. Perhaps his best game of the season.

CM – ROBERT SNODGRASS 8

There were times when the veteran was too relaxed on he ball and lost possession cheaply, but he strolled it for the most part.

CM – CAMMY DEVLIN 9

First goal at Tynecastle was well worth the wait, fired in with his left foot after a determined run forward. Typically tenacious. Excellent.

LM – ALEX COCHRANE 7

Showed little sign of the tight hamstring he had last week, but the Englishman is something of a machine. He just keeps going.

RF – LAWRENCE SHANKLAND 9

Another penalty another goal for the skipper, whose 19th goal of the season takes him to within one of John Robertson’s club record.

ST – JOSH GINNELLY 8

Took his tally for the season to five with a poacher’s double inside the six-yard box, the first from just a yard out and the second a deft flick.

LF – BARRIE MCKAY 7

Showed in flashes what he is capable of, drifting into spaces between he lines. Brought off early to save him for the derby.

SUB – STEPHEN KINGSLEY 6

For Sibbick 75mins. Very welcome return to action after being out with concussion.
