White relishes new role as chief of Big Hearts project

HEARTS have appointed Alan White chief executive of their community programme, which was recently renamed Big Hearts Community Trust.

The scheme, founded in 2006, focuses on grassroots sport, stronger communities and charitable activities and White has been involved since its inception.

David Southern, chairman of Big Hearts Community Trust, said: “Alan has been a major driving force for Big Hearts. With his strategic vision, passion and drive to deliver he’s a fundamental part of what we are trying to achieve within the community.

“This new role sees him focus on creating our strategy going forward and leading the delivery of it through our dedicated team of staff. It’s a job for someone with a Big Heart, and Alan is that someone.”

White added: “I have enjoyed every moment of the first five years working for the club’s charitable arm. The rebrand as Big Hearts was a big moment for all of us, as it has allowed us to sharpen our vision and focus very clearly on delivering.”

Big Hearts are extending their grassroots football programme whilst continuing to run creative and inspirational campaigns across education, the arts and citizenship under the ‘stronger communities’ banner.

New charitable partnerships have also been established with Maggie’s Care Centres and localised programmes with Gorgie City Farm, Gorgie/Dalry Gala, St Martin’s Resource Centre and Gorgie Memorial Hall.
