A Hearts reunion has occurred in the Highlands.

Don Cowie has tapped into his old Hearts contacts as he brings Jack Hamilton into the fold at Ross County.

The goalkeeper has signed a one-year deal with the Premiership club based in Dingwall after leaving Livingston, following their relegation to the Championship. County boss Cowie shared a dressing room with Hamilton during the pair’s stint at Tynecastle and now they join forces again at the Staggie.

Hearts are the club Hamilton has appeared for most in his career, making 63 appearances after being promoted to the first team from the academy in 2011, staying until 2018. He has since turned out for Dundee, Morton, and Livingston. Hamilton also spent time out on loan with Forfar Athletic, East Fife and Stenhousemuir during his Gorgie days.

Cowie has been handed the Ross County manager job permanently after an impressive stint as caretaker inspired them to Premiership safety via the play-offs. Referencing time at Hearts, the former midfielder said of Hamilton: “I’m delighted to add Jack to our goalkeeping group.

“He is someone I know well having played alongside him at Hearts. Jack is an experienced goalkeeper as well as an excellent character who will be a great addition to the dressing room.”

A club statement reads: “Ross County FC are delighted to confirm the signing of Jack Hamilton on a 1-year deal. Jack is a 30-year old goalkeeper who joins us following a spell at Livingston. He has also previously played for Greenock Morton, Dundee and Heart of Midlothian. Welcome to the club, Jack!”
